❛ HALF-SIGHT ❜

BACKGROUND :
In the early days of Sovanna's childhood, she had what she would deem, a 'quiet' upbringing. Sovanna and her siblings were often left home alone, Ichiko being old enough to care for her two sisters without much supervision. At the time, Sovanna was told that her parents were usually away on business; but, as she would later discover, her parents' careers were of the less than legal kind. They largely operated as thieves and intelligence gatherers for their 'agency'; a small collection of like-minded criminals.
Sovanna, as a child, was unaware of this. Being of half Romanian and half Japanese descent, she was schooled in both languages, though largely in favour of Japanese. She was a fast learner and quickly noted as being an intelligent child, but nothing too extraordinary. She spent most of her time accompanied by her sisters and was particularly fond of her eldest sister, Ichiko, who would dote on her. They were raised in the outskirts of Tokyo, in the quieter suburbs. And although they spent minimal time with their parents, their parents did love them and nurtured them with great care.
❛ Such a beautiful life you could have lead. ❜
Their quiet existence, however, as all things do, came to an end. The second eldest sister saw it coming; but not Sovanna. Sovanna was only 5 at the time, and she didn't know. Ichiko had become more quiet and withdrawn, and her smile had started to change, but Sovanna loved her sister, and these indicators went unnoticed. The feeling emerging in her gut went ignored. Until that night occurred.
Sovanna was usually picked up from school by Ichiko. But on this day, Ichiko didn't come. Sovanna waited at the school gates, and she waited. But Ichiko didn't come. Teachers and other parents offered to take Sovanna home, but she rigidly refused. Her sister was coming, and she'd be upset if Sovanna vanished.
But as the evening was drawing in, Ichiko still hadn't come. The teachers once again insisted on taking Sovanna home, but she jumped up and said she was meant to meet Ichiko at the store, and she had forgotten. She left quickly, and although the teachers were concerned, they let her. Of course, this arrangement had never been made. Sovanna had decided that this was clearly Ichiko allowing her to act like a big girl, and walk home all by herself. She could do that; she was a whole 5 years old! Practically an adult to a small child. And so, Sovanna headed for home.
This wasn't the easiest of tasks, though; she got a little lost on the way. Her tiny feet only carried her so fast, and she was becoming tired. But she kept going. And as night fell and began to creep around her, she steeled herself and continued. She was a big girl, and she was tough. Big girls aren't scared of the dark. Even as small tears began to creep into her eyes, and she started to sniffle, she was determined.
And she found her way home. She found their house, and she was so proud. Using the last of her energy, she sprinted to the door and threw herself against it. The house was dark, and there were no lights on, but it was home. It was safe. She reached for the handle, and found it unlocked, and let herself in.
She called out to her family. She called out to her sisters and her parents, but she didn't receive an answer. The house was very dark and so similar to the streets she'd just come from. It felt strange, but she continued. She took off her shoes, and pattered across the floor, deeper inside. And that's when she spotted a light; a little candle's glow coming from behind a cracked door. It was her parents' room; were they home?
She pattered across the floor and reached out a hand. Slowly pushing the door open, and stepping inside, Sovanna softly called out to her parents again. But as the door swung open, Sovanna's bag slipped from her shoulders and landed with a heavy thud onto the wooden floor. And she stared. Eyes wide, and confused.
What she saw in that room wasn't comprehensible to a young mind. She could see three people; two lying down, crooked bodies limb and contorted. And between them, the back of a white-haired angel sat; beautiful hair she knew so well. And there was red. There was so much red. It was so wet. It was covering the walls, the furniture, the ceiling. And there were lumps of things on the floor. Pinky red squishy things, things that she hadn't seen before. She didn't understand what she was seeing. But, slowly, the angel turned to look at her. She had so much red on her. And she smiled so sweetly; in a way, Sovanna recognised her eldest sister.
" Oh, I'm so sorry, my dear. Did I forget to pick you up? Oh, I'm such a bad Nee-san. But look at you. You walked home all by yourself in the dark. Big girls aren't scared of the dark, now are they? '
❛ . . . But your eyes speak of an evil that will claim your heart, just as it did mine. ❜
Ichiko left Sovanna alive. She had cradled Sovanna's face in her hands, smearing it with blood, before vanishing into the night. Sovanna was found by their middle sister; who had been visiting a friend. She found Sovanna sitting on the floor in the room, frozen in shock. It was her who called the police, and her, who carried Sovanna out the door, and cradled her as the flashing lights arrived.
Visina, their grandmother, appeared so suddenly after that. She collected the sisters from child care services and whisked them away to a different home. She was a strict old woman, and largely made the pair speak their common tongue of Romanian when at home. But she trained them well. She taught them the ways of the world. She felt no need to shelter them after what they had seen.
Sovanna withdrawn and sullen, initially falling into silent shock from the ordeal. But children at school thought this meant that Sovanna was like her. They started to whisper, they started to gossip. Her family's crazy, her sister killed everyone. It's in the blood, they're not right in the head.
Sovanna snapped. Her anger developed in a single moment, when she broke the nose of one of the taunting children. It was from then that it started; Sovanna started off getting into fights with other kids when her family was spoken about, but her anger eventually developed so harshly that she would fight anyone for so much as looking at her wrong. She didn't win a lot of these fights. She was outnumbered a lot. But she didn't stop getting into them. She kept coming back, and she kept holding her head up, refusing to let her dignity die.
It was when Sovanna was 9, that her other sister suddenly vanished. Sovanna never speaks of this.
Over the years, Sovanna's anger devolved into simple bitterness, and she became cold and harsh; speaking crudely to everyone. She was filled with a burning hatred for Ichiko. Not only had Ichiko taken away her family, but she robbed Sovanna of any hope of a quiet life. And that was when she decided; she was going to become a hero. Not to save people. She was going to become a hero, so that she could track down and find the villain that went by the name of the Dream Eater.
❛ POWER ❜

QUIRK:
DREAM WALKER
Dream Walker is an Emitter-type quirk, that allows the user to enter the dreams of any unconscious individual they touch. The user then gains control over the individual's dream, and may make alterations to it as they please. They can also gather information from this dream, as they essentially walk the landscape of the person's mind.
There are several problems with Dream Walk being successful, however. If the dream being entered involves a nightmare or a traumatic past, it can be difficult for the user to change or control it, and may potentially be unable to escape until the victim wakes up. Additionally, those with strong minds and wills can be difficult to mentally attack them. And, of course, a person must be unconscious in order for this quirk to take effect.
This being said, there are strengths. Although an individual must be unconscious, the quirk can work even if the individual temporarily loses full consciousness for even just a second. But since this requires Sovanna to work very quickly, it isn't always reliable.
Once in use, both the victim and Sovanna enter into the dream world. As Sovanna can manipulate the dreams to show various scenes and scenarios, when the victim 'wakes up' they may wake in a 'half-dream' state. This will mean that the victim temporarily semi-hallucinates whatever was displayed to them in the dream, in the real world.
For example, if Sovanna causes an individual to dream of monsters, when they awaken in their half-dream state, they may see those around them as monsters.
This effect is temporary, however, and wears off within a few minutes. As such, Sovanna must work quick to deal with her opponents when they are incapacitated in this manner.
There are other uses for Sovanna's quirk. Her ability can be used to delve into a person's past and dredge up memories with them, having her simultaneously learn about them, and in some cases, assist the individual with memory or trauma problems. However, given Sovanna's typical nature towards others, this is rarely employed to assist people in this way.
When Sovanna’s quirk is activated, her eyes begin to glow, and seem to emit a strange energy. Her quirk may occasionally activate when she is feelings strong emotions, causing her eyes to glow in this manner; but of course, it is ineffective without a sleeping target.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Sovanna's most notable physical abilities are her immense stamina and speed. As a young child, Sovanna was frequently subject to beatings and fights amidst neighborhood kids. Although she wasn't successful in winning many of these fights, she developed a strong tolerance for them. Sovanna's pain tolerance is above average, resulting in her being far more likely to continue fighting after sustaining more damage than the average person.
Being a second-year student in the hero course, Sovanna has significant combat training, and proves to be a formidable opponent in hand-to-hand combat. Although her stamina is great, her physical attacks are lacking, and as such she relies on speed. Sovanna prefers to keep light on her feet, and deliver a series of swift attacks and to dodge her opponent, wearing them down.

❛ COMRADES ❜
This section is developed via interactions, and updated as needed. The only exceptions are family members.
FAMILY
Visina Soreater (@DreamsElder)
Sovanna's Romanian grandmother, Visina, largely raised Sovanna after the death of her parents. Visina is a retired villain, whom once terrorized Europe. At one stage, she went to Japan, and met Sovanna's to-be grandfather, but after falling pregnant, returned to her homeland of Romania, to birth twins; Sovanna's mother and uncle.
After the death of Sovanna's parents, Visina returned to Japan in secret to raise her remaining granddaughters. However, within the household, Visina frequently insisted that her granddaughters speak in Romanian, and ran a tight ship. Due to Visina wishing to keep a low profile, she frequently moved herself and her granddaughters between Romania and Japan.
Visina acts as a mentor to Sovanna, and brings wisdom and advice to her. Sovanna has great respect for her grandmother, but at the same time, there is little love and affection between them. Visina doesn't view Sovanna's decision to become a hero well. However, Visina, like Sovanna, finds disgust in Ichiko's act of parricide, and thus, encourages Sovanna to defeat her, and finds common ground with Sovanna in this.
After Sovanna enrolled in Shiketsu High, Visina returned to Romania, and has remained there since. Sovanna frequently visits her grandmother during school breaks.
Ichiko Soreater (@DreamsDevourer)
When Sovanna was a child, she was very fond of her older sister, and looked up to her with great respect. Ichiko, in turn, seemed to quite love her sister, and always had a great fascination with how beautiful she seemed Sovanna would grow up to be. Despite Sovanna possessing heterochromia, Ichiko would often remark that Sovanna’s crimson eye looked identical to her own red eyes; this would later lead to Sovanna’s hatred for this coloured eye.
After Ichiko inexplicably went crazed and murdered their parents, Sovanna’s admiration for her sister swiftly turned to fear, and shortly after, became mixed with a bitter rage. Sovanna simultaneously greatly fears Ichiko, and deeply resents her. Ichiko, on the other hand, still seems to hold a certain familial love for Sovanna, but has developed a twisted manner in which to display it. Ichiko seems to have become near-obsessed with the idea that Sovanna belongs with her, and to prevent Sovanna from fleeing again, she has resolved that the only way to force Sovanna to remain with her, is to kill her.
Sovanna’s entire motivation to become a hero is fueled by her desire to apprehend Ichiko and have her punished for her crimes. Sovanna is willing to do anything to achieve the strength and power to accomplish this, and will make questionable choices to further this goal. Additionally, Ichiko is responsible for Sovanna’s hatred for her heterochromia. Sovanna was frequently told by those around her that her crimson eye was too similar to Ichiko’s, and being the younger sister, she was likely to commit the same atrocities that her sister did.
Nightmare (@HorridNightmare)
Little public information is known about Nightmare, and few are aware that she is apart of the Soreater family.
Sovanna and Nightmare’s relationship was a rather average one between siblings. Nightmare was a quiet girl, as was Sovanna; meaning the two mostly bonded over calming activities, such as drawing together, or watching animals in the yard.
After the death of their parents, at first, this seemed to bring the sisters closer together in their time of need. However, shortly after, Nightmare became strange, and even further withdrawn. She remained with Visina and Sovanna for only three years, before she mysteriously vanished without a trace.
Sovanna rarely speaks of Nightmare, unsure of what to think of her sister’s disappearance. Part of her feels abandoned, whilst part worries that Ichiko may have been involved with it. She has heard rumours, however, of a woman with the eyes of a devil in the underworld; and she has lingering suspicions that this is her sister.

❛ NATURE ❜

⠀
PERSONALITY :
There are two incredibly common terms used to describe Sovanna; those being ‘bitch’ and more popularly, ‘ice queen’.
Sovanna is well-reputed for being extraordinarily cold and harsh; so cold is her glare, in fact, that the very temperature seems to drop in her presence! Nearly all interactions with her result in insults, callous remarks, and general hostility. Her nickname of ‘ice queen’ was quickly formed amongst her classmates and peers, due to just how unfriendly Sovanna behaves, and how heartless she can come across as. Sovanna is very blunt and is quick to point out the reality of situations, and general facts that people may not want to hear. Ironically, she seems to rather poorly receive such statements when matters are pointed out regarding her own poor behaviour.
This harsh and cold persona was developed via her upbringing. When Sovanna was young, she was a far more gentle and quiet child. However, after experiencing the trauma at her sister’s hands, Sovanna became incredibly withdrawn and began isolating herself. But due to the bullying of her fellow classmates as a child, and the feeling of animosity from her own family, Sovanna began to develop a severe anger problem. She started regularly getting into fights in and out of school, and spent most of her childhood with bruises and bandaids; many of the fights she got in, she lost. Sovanna became increasingly frustrated with herself, angry that she significantly lacked in strength. Not only did she become more bitter and cynical due to her surroundings, but she became quite obsessive about trying to get stronger. To this day, Sovanna is very training-orientated.
Although moderately matured, Sovanna still has a bad temper, and although her frequency in getting into fights has significantly died down, it has yet to completely vanished. She’s known for hitting or punching classmates for comical value, but also has a tendency to occasionally engage in actual fights. However, prompt reprimanding for this has mostly discouraged her, and she will usually now simply stick to throwing insults. Despite her poor temper, surprisingly, in battles against genuine villains, she is often more level-headed, and less prone to acting purely on emotional drives. But, her anger may still occasionally flare – of course, given certain circumstances.
MORE TO BE ADDED

❛ VISAGE ❜
APPEARANCE :
Sovanna stands at a height of 5’7, with a slim, yet sturdy build; and a relatively well-endowed chest. She has long, silvery-white hair which reaches down to just above her mid-back, with a slightly side-swept fringe. Sovanna possesses heterochromia, with her right eye being a deep blue, and her left eye being a dark red – despite her general lack of expression, her eyes are known for rather vibrantly betraying whatever emotion she seems to be feeling. Whenever Sovanna’s quirk is activated, her eyes take on a distinct, almost fiery glow to them. She is rather pale in appearance, and possesses remarkably clear skin – however, she does possess several scars. One is located on the lower back of her neck, and another, slightly larger one is located on the back of her left thigh. Additionally, she has another on her right hand, a scar just around her waist. Sovanna is frequently regarded as being remarkably beautiful by those around her, but she seems to rarely endeavour to indulge this.
When wearing her general school uniform, the only noted change she seems to possess is that she usually dons a school vest rather than a jacket. Her skirt, long-sleeved white blouse, stockings, and average school shoes remain quite generic. When wearing the sports uniform, the front of Sovanna’s shirt is usually unbuttoned, and she wears a simple black crop top underneath, and black Holliston ankle boots.
Hero OutfitSovanna’s hero outfit is designed to allow her as much mobility as possible and retains a very simple design. It consists of slightly thicker materialled black leggings, and her shoes are a pair of plain black Chelsea boots. She wears a tight-fitting long-sleeved top, made of thin black leather, and with cut-out shoulders. The sleeves end by running along the back of her hand in a V-shape, before tying off around her middle finger. Over the top of this, Sovanna near-always wears a heavy grey jacket, with short sleeves, and reaches down to the tops of her thighs. And finally, Sovanna wears a mask. This mask covers her entire lower face, and appears rather dull aside from the three filter holes doting either side of it; this is in place to perform as a gas mask, and so, this part of the mask is relatively sturdy and made of hard material. The upper part of her mask is designed to cover her left eye – this serves no other purpose than Sovanna’s personal rejection of her crimson eye, and wanting to keep it unassociated with any heroic activities. At the start of the year, this mask is light grey in colour, but after the first incident with MILD, the mask’s tone has been swapped to black.
Finally, Sovanna’s casual attire; although this changes from day to day life, she is most commonly seen in a pair of jeans (white, black, grey, or dark blue), a basic t-shirt, a leather jacket, and black Doc Martens boots.
No matter what she wears, Sovanna can always be found wearing a white and silver Shamballa bracelet on her right wrist.
